VW Crafter Sprinter UK's Only M1 Tested Open Top Double Swivel Seat Base

  

In a motorhome conversion space is always at a premium, installing swivel seats is a fantastic way of maximising your living area, please read the whole listing , its boring but there is some important information in there if your weighing up your options. The VCA (Vehicle Certification Agency) state that a motorhome is a catagory M1 vehicle, therefore any testing should be carried out to M1 standard, please be aware that only accredited automotive test centres (of which there are only a handfull in the UK) are able to carry out, certify and validate the testing of motorvehicle seating systems. Remember it is your legal and ethical responsibiltly to ensure the safety of your occupants. The pull test is a crash simulation using a complex test rig which exerts an anatomically correct pull-force of around three tonnes per passenger for 0.2 of a second; the weight of the seat box, seat and swivel are also added in to the equation, since the seatbelts will be holding these in situe as well as your passengers in the event of a crash. With this being a double seat it meant that our double swivel base had to hold up to over 7 tonne of pull-force to pass this test!

Our swivel base has been designed with an open top to allow easy access to the seat compartment, which is great if you have leisure batteries, battery isolator, battery to battery charger, inverter etc, airflow and quick access is essential for some of these! Unlike others available; with our double base there is no need to struggle tilting the seat backwards or any other complicated procedures to gain access, just simply lift the seat as usual and you have full instant access to both sides. The base pivots in the middle on a front to back, side to side slot allowing the seat to be manipulated to swivel 360 degrees by simply removing the handwheels and sliding it around, the mating surfaces have been treated with dry silicone and the washers are nylon 6 and utilise a sprung washer making it super easy to spin and 100% rattle free.

This unit comes ready to drop on to the original base and mounts to the original holes using the original nuts and bolts , simply re-fit the seat on top, all additional nuts/bolts are supplied and any load bearing bolts are 10.9 grade high tensile. We also supply everything you need to rewire the seatbelt pretensioner , this is simply done by passing the existing wire through the hollow central pivot bolt and re-connecting, extra wire, connectors and a small length of braided sheathing are included.

Fitting instructions are also included. M1 Pull Tested by VOSC (Vehicle Occupant Safety Center, Wolverhampton Science Park) to ECE Regulation R14.07/ECE Directive 76/115/EEC as Amended by 2005/41EC Seat Belt Anchorage Test, comes complete with a laminated copy of the certificate and data test sheet. This base has been shot blasted and powder coated in RAL9005 semi-gloss black polyester (we have our own powder coating system so other colours are available on request).

The open top double swivel base is our design, due to its sucess there have been numerous attempts at copying it and/or some of its attributes, R&J Camper Solutions solely own the design rights for this item.
