S C Engineering Land Rover Defender heavy Duty Security Rear Door hinges. (Theses hinges are not ano dised) Wont get affected by screen wash or car cleaning products that strip anodized parts.

Fits all models of defenders. S C Engineering designer and manufacture of a UK based business. When designing these hinges, I wanted them to look good and strong. I wanted them to fill a void if you had a panoramic glass kit, and look more in keeping with the look. I wanted them to be strong enough to hold a heavy wheel if the door was reinforced. I didn't want any play in the hinges and I wanted them to be greaseable so they would last.

I wanted the hinges smooth in movement, and I wanted a bit of resistance to the hinge, so there not sloppy. I wanted them to bolt inside of the vehicle so can't be unbolted from outside.

I wanted an O ring seal machined into base, so no leaks and a cleaner look with no horrible stock seals on show. Also wanted a better coating than anodising as it's not very good for outside life and chemicals. Some information on final product. CNC machined out of high-quality billet aluminium 6082. All items are hand finish to ensure quality and fitment.

10mm stainless steel door pins with machined dimples so grub screws lock into place in hinge. Can't be knocked out from outside with hammer and makes the doors much safer.

There are nylon washers between the pivoting faces which are replaceable. The washers are hand lapped to give resistance to the hinge mechanism. This gives them a nice smooth operation but will not move unless moved to position with little force. The hinge has a grease nipple machined into them. This helps the hinge in smoothness of movement.

Also Helps with making the part last, as all high-end objects use grease, oil to increase life. Also gives a barrier between the stainless steel and the aluminium. It also makes the hinge quite in operation as its lubricated. I have managed not to have grease nipples on show, unless the door is opened, as this would spoil the look. The hinges are M8 roll tapped for strength.

This is a formed thread not cut with a tap. Its many times stronger doing this in aluminium.

O ring seals are machined into base of hinge, this stops any leaks and helps with high end look. You don't have to use the stock gaskets, which spoil the look of your defender. The hinge is Cerakote in a ceramic coating. This is a high-end coating to help product last.

You won't have to worry about washing your defender or using screen wash. You can use Traffic Film Remover and not worry who washes your Land Rover by using Cerakote coatings. Every part that is Cerakoted is done in house to ensure quality. It has to be cleaned first.

Then it has to be blasted with aluminium oxide. This takes any flaws out of part. Its then blowed down and put in a bath of acetone. I then spray the part with a special Cerakote spray gun in a spray booth. Then the parts are left to go hard and flatten. It's a very thin coating which is used on many high-end products, like firearms but it's not cheap.

We use Cerakote C series ceramic coatings. Much better than anodising, don't have to worry about chemicals. It's a way more expensive coating to anodising due to the prep and time it takes to do.

It's also hard wearing being a ceramic and non-stick. Not limited by anodising colours. Worth researching the coating to see what you think. Some info about coating from their website. Formulated to withstand temperatures of up to 1800°F.

Very good Durability and hardness. Uses: Automotive, wheels, exhaust systems, firearms, architectural, lighting, hardware, optics and much more.

This should be enough to coat a whole set of hinges for Defender. Included with rear door hinges. 1x Top hinge with O ring gaskets. 2x Bottom door hinge with O ring gaskets. 6x M8 x 50mm Stainless Steel Torx pin security bolts. 6x M8 x 20mm Stainless Steel Torx pin security bolts.
